On May 22, 2025, the 9th China Fluorine and Silicon Industry Conference was grandly opened in Baotou City, Inner Mongolia. The conference, themed "Empowering Industrial Chain Collaboration with Technology for a Shared Future";, brought together over 300 fluorosilicon enterprises, research institutes and investment institutions. They focused on areas such as fluorinated surfactants, fluoropolymers and fluorinated fine chemicals, discussing technological innovation, industrial upgrading and market opportunities. Baotou City, as the host city of the conference, is home to the world's largest fluorite associated deposit in Bayan Obo, with proven fluorite reserves of 130 million tons, accounting for 45% of the country's total reserves. It is an important base for fluorine chemical raw materials in China. During the conference, Baotou City released a plan for a fluorine materials industrial cluster worth over 100 billion yuan, focusing on developing high-end fluorinated surfactants, electronic-grade fluorine chemicals, and new energy fluorine-containing materials, etc., to build a full industrial chain ecosystem covering "resources - raw materials - products - applications";. Twelve key projects were signed on the spot, with a total investment of over 8 billion yuan, covering areas such as fluorinated surfactant intermediates, high-end fluorine materials, and comprehensive utilization of fluorine resources.
Technological innovation is the core focus of the conference. At the fluorinated surfactants sub-forum, industry experts and enterprise representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on four major directions: short-chain fluorinated surfactants, degradable fluorinated surfactants, electronic-grade fluorinated surfactants, and fluorinated additives for new energy. The conference disclosed several breakthrough achievements: The first domestic continuous short-chain C6 fluorinated surfactant production line was put into operation, with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons, a product purity of 99.9%, and a cost reduction of 22%. The degradable side-chain fluorine-containing surfactant has achieved industrialization at a scale of over ten thousand tons, with an environmental degradation rate exceeding 85% and performance comparable to traditional products. The large-scale application of fluorinated wetting AIDS for new energy batteries has reduced the battery liquid injection time by 40% and significantly improved consistency.
Industrial collaboration has become a consensus in the industry. Facing the challenges of global supply chain reconstruction, stricter environmental protection regulations and intensified competition, going it alone is no longer sustainable. Collaborative innovation among industry, academia, research and application has become an inevitable choice. During the conference, the China Fluorosilicone Organic Materials Industry Association took the lead in establishing the "Fluorinated Surfactant Innovation Alliance";, uniting 15 leading enterprises and 8 research institutes to jointly build a research and development platform, share technological achievements, and jointly expand the global market.
